Welcome To The Golden Band Resources HUB On AGORACOM
Saskatchewan's SECRET Gold Mining Development.
Northern Miner - Star Lake Mine
The Star Lake Mine was discovered in the 1960's, where one-ton Quartz slabs containing one ounce per ton gold were uncovered. Unable to raise capital for an expansion after a brief period of operations, the mining prospect lay fallow until the -1980's when a concerted effort was made to expand the prospect but also keep the secrets buried when raising capital became a problem.
Wall St. Journal Archive
An archive of articles from the Wall St. Journal(undated) that describe the corporate brinkmanship and diluted interest in the gold mining sector as various players vied for control of the industry during the generational bear market in gold bullion prices. Any property that was not fully developed was simply tossed aside during the 1992 recession. Bre-X followed in 1997, and the gold price saw a low in 1999.
Norther Miner - A Second Saskatchewan Gold Mine
Archival material from the Northern Miner on The Jolu Mine during the 1980's. The article answers some very basic questions about the Jolu Mine, such as stability of the wall rock, whether there might be water problems, the structure of the vein and how it might impact dilution, cost to mine an ounce.
Top Shareholders - GBN
The top shareholders in GBN.V shares haven't changed in many years. Golden Band Resources has consolidated the prospective ground as the last operating gold producer in the belt. The mill cost $18m. to build by a previous operator who went bankrupt as a result of the recession in 1992, decline in the gold price and BRE-X in 1997 and was purchased by the company for $400k in 2002. Investors in the predecessor companies since the late 1980's are the same for GBN.V.
Other - Security Holder's Documents
Security holder's documents and material contracts listed under 'Other' on SEDAR. The security holder's documents are the 'treasure chest.'
Modification To Schedule 2 Of The Metals Mining Effluent Regulations Act
Article from the Canada Gazette detailing the modification of schedule 2 of the metals, mining and effluent regulations act. The cost benefit analysis is for a period of 25 years, thus they intend a long life mining project. The Mallard Lake location immediately south of Jojay Lake, SK shows shading on Google Maps and Ridges in Google Earth App that suggest tailings impoundment can easily be greatly expanded.
Models And Exploration Methods Of Major Gold Deposits
Geological paper discussing types of major gold deposits and exploration recommendations. Of significance would be the details surrounding a 'dome' formation.
Geology Ontario
The Komis Deposit and The Dome Mine are not unlike one another in their morphology, their veins appear similar(via extant photos) and their disposition and size draw a close analogy. The veins in the photographs of the Komis technical report match those taken in the open pit at the former Dome mine. In the instance of the Komis Mine, the geological dome was removed, leaving Round Lake in its place. EP Mine is adjacent to Komis.
Royalties At Issue
Development in the resource sector could not offset provincial royalties in federal taxes, which prevented investment in mines in the 1970's. This adversely affected any development in the La Ronge Gold Belt during the resource boom of the period.
Regina Leader - Post, June 17, 1985
This is the best archival link available that can summarize the La Ronge Gold Project at the time. The failure of mines to develop during this period were attributed to a colossal swindle on the behalf of the developers, but were in actual matter of fact due to the inability to raise capital, owing to divided interests and aggressive short selling by the securities industry. Kahn zone quoted as a shear zone measuring 3km in this article.
