I would be willing to bet that I have used a dictionary a lot more than you. Not because I do not think you use one but simply because I have spent an awful lot of time in a dictionary. I have also spotted an error in a dictionary and sent the letter to them pointing it out. And yes, I did get a letter back saying thank you for the letter and they will correct the error in the next printing. I find that dictionaries do not go that deep in defining the subtleties in the difference between an investor and a trader.

I am not saying that the dictionary is wrong but they are frequently lacking. The CRA definition is written for tax purposes. Webster defines invest as " to commit (money) in order to earn a financial return". I am not saying either the tax department or dictionary are wrong. I am saying the definition in Webster's is incomplete to differentiate it from trading.

I am also cautioning you to not use the Canada Revenue Agency to help you better understand life.
