I once wrote a letter to the Finance Minister of the Canadian Government advising him of one way to cut Government expenses and received a reply that only those in positions of entitlement could possibly understand and get onside with.

I told him that the government needs to consider paying all people on the public purse, a net wage and reduce the administration accordingly.

He advised me that no way would the government consider treating its people any differently from ordinary taxpayers.

I replied that when times get tough, most people on fixed budgets, find ways (unique of forced) to cut their liabilities.

No answer!!
