Gran Tierra Energy Inc. announced that Shane P. O'Leary will be joining the company as Chief Operating Officer effective March 2, 2009. Mr. O'Leary, whose regional experience includes South America, North Africa, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, and North America, will be based out of the Calgary corporate head office and report to Dana Coffield, the company's President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Gran Tierra Energy, Mr. O'Leary was President and Chief Executive Officer of First Calgary Petroleums Ltd., an oil and gas company actively engaged in exploration and development activities in Algeria.

On November 3, 2008, the Board approved an increase to the size of the Board from five to seven members, effective November 14, 2008, subject to the completion of the Arrangement. To fill the vacancies created by the increase, the Gran Tierra Energy Inc. elected J. Scott Price and Ray Antony to serve as new Board members, effective November 14, 2008, also subject to the completion of the Arrangement. Pursuant to the terms of the Arrangement Agreement, Gran Tierra agreed that, following the completion of the Arrangement, the size of the Board would be increased by two members and that two designees of Solana would be elected to the Board. Solana designated Mr. Price and Mr. Antony to serve on Gran Tierra's Board. Immediately prior to the completion of the Arrangement, Mr. Price was Solana's President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of Solana's board of directors, and Mr. Antony was the Chairman of Solana's board of directors.

Down 0.45 to 5.12... GTE and Solana Resources Limited enter merger agreement. Terms: Solana holder to get either 0.9527 share of GTE or; 0.9527 a share of a Canadian unit of GTE for each Solana share held.

Gran Tierra Energy Inc. announced that Nadine Smith has resigned from the Board of Directors, effective March 27, 2008. Ms. Smith recently became the Chair of the Board of Directors of La Cortez Energy Inc., where she will need to devote her time and efforts. Nick Kirton, FCA, ICD.D has joined the Board of Directors of Gran Tierra Energy effective March 27, 2008, and will also assume the role of Chairman of the Audit Committee. Mr. Kirton is a Chartered Accountant and retired after a thirty-eight year career at KPMG. He currently sits on the boards of directors of four public companies and one private company.
