Column 1 – “Date” = Every reporting period covers 2 weeks of trading. The dates in this column are the last day of the covered period. The same date appears on 2 different lines. One line covers the period’s data, the other line covers the consolidated data (long term short).

Column 2 – “Short Sales Trades” = This is the number of transaction that were reported as shorts.

Column 3 – “% Total Trades” = This is the percentage of short transactions versus the total number of trades.

Column 4 – “Short Traded Volume” = This is the volume of shares traded in transactions reported as shorts.

Column 5 – “% Total Volume” = This is the percentage of volume of shares traded in transactions reported as shorts versus the total volume during the period.

Column 6 – “Short Traded Value” = This is the value, in dollars, of the transactions reported as short.

Column 7 – “% Total Value” = This is the percentage of the short value versus the total value transacted during the period.

Column 8 – “Average Price of Shorts” = This is the average price per share of the short transactions. (Short traded value / Short traded volume) for the period. The shorters objective is to buy back the shares they sold, at a price below this average.

Column 9 – “Consolidated Number of Shares” = This is the number of short shares that are left to be bought back (long term short). Since the shorters are selling shares they do not own, they have to borrow shares and pay a fee to balance for their shorts.

Column 10 – “Consolidated Net Change” = This is the difference between the number of consolidated short shares of the previous period minus the number of consolidated short shares of the current period. A negative number indicates the shorter are covering (buying back) their long term short.
