More Exceptional Results for Hana From Zone 5 at Ghanzi, Botswana

Zone extended 800 meters along strike

3.74 %Cu and 29.7 g/t Ag over 9.0 meters

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2009) - Hana Mining Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:HMG)(FRANKFURT:4LH) is pleased to report the results of new copper-silver mineralization at its sediment-hosted Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana. Nine reverse circulation holes, HA - 26 - R to HA - 34 - R, were drilled on the north limb of a syncline at Zone 5 and along strike of mineralization intersected in seven RC holes announced in a press release dated October 15, 2008. Five of the new holes, HA - 26 - R to HA - 30 - R, were drilled along an 800 meter strike length to the southwest and three holes, HA - 32 - R to HA - 34 - R, were drilled along a 600 meter strike length to the northeast. Seven of the holes intersected copper-silver mineralization and have extended the mineralization at the new discovery in Zone 5 to 2000 metres.

Details of the results for the twelve new holes are as follows:

Intercepts reported are intersection length and are estimated to be 80% or more of true width. Drill sections and a 3D model can be viewed at http://www.corebox.net/properties/gh... or by following a link on the Company's website.

Mineralization included Cu-oxides and native copper along with chalcopyrite and bornite. Highlights include holes HA - 26 and 27 - R collared on the same section that returned 1.48 %Cu and 17.9 g/t Ag over a 21.0 meters and 1.32 %Cu and 14.2 g/t Ag over 18.0 meters. These intercepts are at vertical depths of 60 and 85 meters, respectively. These intercepts are 200 meters southwest along strike from previously reported hole HA - 25 - R that returned the widest intercept encountered on the property so far; 2.06 %Cu and 16.9 g/t Ag over 30 meters at a vertical depth of 65 meters. Hole HA - 28 - R, collared 200 meters southwest of HA - 26 and 27 - R, returned 1.22 %Cu over 15.0 meters. Hole HA - 29 - R collared 400 meters southwest of HA - 26 and 27 - R returned 2.29 %Cu and 15.3 g/t Ag over 18.0 meters and included a higher grade section of 3.74 %Cu and 29.7 g/t Ag over 9.0 meters. Hole HA - 31 - R was drilled up section from weakly mineralized hole HA - 20 - R and intersected 1.52 %Cu and 5.2 g/t Ag over 3.0 meters within a wider intercept of 0.69 %Cu and 2.0 g/t Ag over 12.0 meters. The 3 holes drilled along a 600 meter strike length to the northeast returned low grades. Two diamond drill holes have been completed to characterize geology and mineralization as well as provide samples for metallurgical testing. In total, 2.6 kilometers of strike length have been tested at Zone 5 with RC drilling. This area is 60 kilometers north of Zones 1 and 2 where much of the initial exploration on the property was carried out.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Hana has implemented an industry-standard QA/QC program. A 35-40 kilogram sample is collected from the cyclone discharge at 1 meter intervals. The sample is then split 75/25; 75% of the sample is archived and the other 25% provides material for analysis. Three meter composite samples from 3 successive intervals are collected from the split of each 1 meter interval. The composited sample is submitted for analysis and the 75%-split is reserved for more detailed 1 meter follow-up sampling and analysis of mineralized intervals. All samples are double bagged, sealed and transported in secured wooden crates and shipped to Scientific Services Laboratory in Cape Town, South Africa. Standards, blanks and duplicates are inserted into the sample stream for diamond drill and RC samples.
