4) Chinese EVs are going global - BYD, SAIC (includes MG, Roewe, R, and other brands), Geely (OTCPK:GELYY) [HK:0175], BAIC Motor [HK:01958], NIO Inc. and XPeng

BYD Co. has already been selling their electric buses very successfully all around the world. A new trend that is emerging is for Chinese electric cars to be sold globally, usually initially in Europe. For example, on June 7, 2021, Seeking Alpha reported: "BYD ships 100 EV Tang SUVs to Norway... the first batch of vehicles for a planned delivery of 1,500 electric cars to Norway by the end of this year." BYD usually teams up with a local distributor. For Australia, BYD plans to bring four new electric models to be sold direct to the consumer via distributor Nextport. Perhaps the biggest news is the report: "2021 BYD EA1: Australia’s “sub-$35,000” electric car revealed." That's equivalent to a US$27,100 selling price and would certainly shake up the entire car market in a huge way.
