Message: Is the ROF Located On Native Land?
I believe and I'm no expert, but i've spent a bunch of time in the area and work very closley with some of the reserves in the area - that a lot of the claims are located on what they call Traditional Territory. It's a grey area when it comes to legal battles, but it generaly means that there needs to be consultation with the native communities who have a historical claim to the land. I hear the Webequie band in is in favour of the developement and I can just about guarantee that exploration would not have gone this far without some sort of verbal agreement at least. The webequie airport is just about the busiest airport in Northern Ontario right now. There are a number of helicopters based there and at least one, maybe two survey planes flying non stop. I doubt this would be the case if the community was dead set against the exploration. See Platinex - ptx for an example of how it can go wrong.
