Merit Mining Corp. Appoints New Director

July 16, 2010 – Vancouver, British Columbia. Merit Mining Corp. (TSX-V: MEM) (the “Company”) announces the appointment of Garnet Dawson, M.Sc., P.Geo. to its board of directors to replace Kenneth Collison, who has stepped down as a director. Mr. Collison has agreed to provide technical advisory services to the Company.

Mr. Dawson has over twenty-five years experience in the exploration and mining industry, working with major and junior mining companies in Canada, South America, Europe, and China. He currently serves as VP Exploration of Brazilian Gold Corporation.
