Message: Microvision announces new medical prototype

Microvision is proud to announce today that the ARTORG Center of Computer Aided Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland has created a new device that displays a visual image directly onto a patient’s skin.

This device is similar to the MRI projection system that was stated earlier this month. However, it is a compact, handheld device instead. By using Microvision’s laser-based projection system the image is able to display onto the skin without focusing or image distortion problems. Currently, the prototype is able to display vascular structures and the patient’s organs onto the patient. The device was designed to reduce operation time and help avoid injury to invisible structures during surgical procedures.

I'm puzzled that this does not appear on Microvision's own website - maybe I didn't look hard enough. Looks like an item that has the potential to become ubiquitous in the medical community.
