Steve Tobak

Steve Tobak is a highly regarded, 23 year veteran of the semiconductor industry. He has successfully led global organizations, from startup to Fortune-1000, in the development and execution of innovative strategies resulting in market leadership. Tobak is dynamic, articulate and success-driven, with domain expertise in semiconductors, intellectual property (IP) and software, and market expertise in computing, communications and consumer electronics.

Tobak is a founding partner of Invisor Consulting, a premier provider of strategic marketing consulting services to the semiconductor, computer and communications industries. Prior to founding Invisor, he was senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Rambus, a provider of semiconductor IP products and services. While at Rambus, Tobak led the successful repositioning of the company, including the development and deployment of a new corporate strategy and brand identity.

Prior to joining Rambus, Tobak was CEO at InLight Communications, an early stage, optical component company. Before InLight, he was senior vice president, marketing and sales at Tessera. Tobak developed and led Tessera's new positioning as a licensor of semiconductor packaging technology for the miniaturization of electronic products. He also helped to raise $35M in mezzanine round funding and to prepare the company's initial public offering.

Before Tessera, Tobak was vice president of corporate marketing and communications at National Semiconductor following its acquisition of Cyrix, a microprocessor manufacturer. While at Cyrix, Tobak served as vice president of corporate and channel marketing, as well as other interim roles. While at Cyrix and National, Tobak led the launch of a number of processors and platforms, and played a pivotal role in the creation and hyper-growth of the low-cost PC market.

Tobak has also held senior marketing and sales management positions with OPTi and Stac Electronics, and began his twenty three year career as a chip designer with Texas Instruments. Tobak has a master's degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor's degree in physics from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. He lives with his wife in the Santa Cruz Mountains, near Silicon Valley, California.
