Geology question - jdefur, rockaur, or somebody

We have seen the comment a few times now (i.e. Wasserman Morris report and the Richmond Club address) that previous exploration attempts would not have been looking for this particular type of magnetic signature - which is why Noranda (among others) did not discover these ore bodies in the past. Do you have any theories why these signatures would be different here? Could this be related to the meteor impact theory?

BTW johndefur and rockaur, thanks for all the invaluable contributions you gents have made here on this forum!
