TIMMINS - The Timmins Taxpayers Association is very pleased by way of this letter to demonstrate our full and complete support for the location and construction of a new ferrochrome smelter within the boundaries of the municipality of Timmins.

Timmins is unquestionably the perfect location to construct this new smelter. With over 100 years of mining expertise in this municipality, Timmins can boast that we possess an experienced and dedicated manpower pool as well as a service sector second to none. One that is ready and able to fully support and respond immediately to this new project. Timmins has just recently closed its copper smelter, so a new ferrochrome smelter would be very well received in this mining community. Putting it plainly Timmins and its residents have a proud tradition of mining.

Our fathers and our brothers and friends have all worked in the mining sector in one capacity or another. Stating the obvious we completely understand mining.

Our workforce is without doubt extremely experienced in the metallurgical field. The City of Timmins can presently boast many large mining operations located within our city boundaries, as well as up and coming projects already in the pipe line. The residents of Timmins would certainly be very proud to be selected by the Noront Company as the city that will play a very important role in the Ring Of Fire project.

The existing rail line can only be an added plus to this project. In short Timmins possesses a dedicated and fully trained workforce, as well as a complete service sector ready and able to tackle this large project.

Director, Timmins Taxpayers Association
