The pictures in Ringer's post are the construction road/corridor for the fiber optic cable funded by Ont Gov't.  Nibinamik, Neskantaga, Eabametoong, Marten Falls and Webequie First Nations formed Rapid Lynx network to head the high speed broadband to their communities.  

In the Thunder Bay news announcement they had this statement.  Bold is my highlight.
"Tree clearing and brush cutting is expected to begin as soon as the environmental permits are granted and will follow the all-access road from Aroland First Nation to Webequie First Nation, then along winter roads to the other four communities." (

I haven't seen any 'environmental approvals/permits, so maybe something is brewing behind the scenes.
