Tinman and the little birdie seem to be on the right track....who better than Glencore to come forward with needed cash to fund future development.  They have had their tentacles on Noront for quite a while....as well as KWG.....responsible mining and responsible smelting....perhaps a nice offtake agreement with Elon?  Ahh trifecta.

SUDBURY – The proposed billion dollar ferrochrome smelter that the mining firm Noront Resources wants to build in Sault Ste. Marie could be getting some help from experts in Sudbury.

A Sudbury company called Expert Process Solutions is a subsidiary of Glencore and it specializes in testing the ore and materials needed to run a successful smelter.

The Chief Development Officer with Noront Resources Stephen Flewelling says his company is in talks with XPS as it has the equipment already.

Noront Resources wants to do some simulations and technology tests regarding ferrochrome processing and waste materials.

In April of 2014, KWG Resources acquired from Frank Winter’s interests in two international patent applications after he successfully tested his formulation for refining chromite ore into ferrochrome with natural gas at Glencore’s XPS Laboratory on project #3013814.0023.

As Tinman has previously pointed out....

"KWG Resources and XPS have collaborated over the last 3 years in developing a patented (Winter) processing alternative to the traditional smelting operation in which all processing takes place in the solid state at temperatures many hundreds of degrees lower than those required for liquid processing. Amongst the attractions of the process are much lower capital costs, as well as reduced operating costs, particularly of energy.
