"...one ongoing item is why no major Canadian mining company ever did what BHP and Wyloo are now doing."   I think a Canadian mining company is waiting in the wings and will pounce at some point when timing is perfect for them.  Just watching for now and having a good giggle.  Using the opportunity to bide some time and watching shareholders reaction so they will know when to enter and at what amount.  It's called strategic planning.
