Message: THE LAUNCH OF A NEW ERA FOR POET (PTK)

With thanks to ITTR for his transcript of SV comments at the CC 12NOV19.

To my mind the key quote of the CC was:

‘This enablement of a seamless integration of varied devices, along with the ability to fabricate and test at wafer-scale, is what makes the optical interposer platform so disruptive with semiconductor scalability providing a highly disruptive cost advantage. No other company yet is at a comparable level of wafer-scale integration in photonics, especially when taken into account the integration of all the required passive components.’

Vivek Rajgarhia is an entrepreneur with the experience of founding two optical companies.  He sees that photonic integration has stagnated due to cost and scale and recognises the extend that the OI’s highly disruptive advantage can be utilised in the optical industry as it is from his educated point of view in the industry the lead company in wafer scale integration.  He mentioned LIDAR but also said that the POET OI offer a solution for a wide base of applications.  VR, also said that there is a lot of shareholder value to be made for POET IC.

The outcome of the CC is not too apparent but for me it’s that SV our new Chairman, who is principally an inventive engineer, and perhaps not as strong on the commercial side, has partnered with a proven entrepreneur in the optical field.  We as shareholders should rejoice that the team is more rounded to win with VRs new skills brought into our company.

This moment effectively marks the transition from focusing  on one tier customer to building the ability to support a range of customers.  The sale of DL, and the removal of significant costs running a fab, provides the funding necessary to build this new income generating machine.

For anyone wishing to get on board the good ship POET they will have to chose their moment carefully.  There is no further dilution in sight given the capital plan that is in place. Once customer one is revealed I believe that a growing sense of being left behind will begin and Tech spotters will start to take notice.  IMO The PTK SP is thus loaded with potential growth based on real discernible factors and not just the vision and hope us longs have depended on.

Surely, the addition of the optical entrepreneur Vivek Rajgarhia to the POET team is the ships engine that drives the growth we shareholders desire.
