Message: POET Needs To Clearly Differentiate Their Products For Potential Investors

Very interesting ITTR.  Rockley seems to be an important reference for POET. When we were in one of the debenture meetings our CEO mentioned Rockley specifically. And the bottom line was POET’s OI has significant advantages. Some may recall listening to the IBK CC call that Rainer posted in which this subject was touched on and later discussed in follow-up.  And when we met with our new president Rockley again became a topic of interest. One of the comments was they started out in data but were pivoting to sensing because the platform could not really compete in data applications (or something like that).

And again it was regarded as a company that POET may do business with. Suresh knows Andrew and knows that platforms strength and weaknesses.

One thing that was very interesting about Rockley is  that Andrew Richman has managed to get massive funding for his silicon photonics platform and the response at our meeting came down to the POET OI is a superior platform by  ether CEO’s standards so how  do  we tap  into that kind of  money? For  those who  kind of  lose track of  who  is  who. Rockley coined their platform as bigger is better. Very large silicon waveguides in SOI. And the technical drivers that make that necessary create significant problems which have been discussed here at length in the past.

Also of interest as reported by TM re silicon photonics platforms. He named specifically Intel and Cisco as requiring lenses aligned to the fiber. Why is this the case. Because POET is  the only one that  can integrate everything at wafer scale without active alignment requirements with the lowest insertion loss.

The technical advantages that the POET platform offers and the reduction to cost is  what  we are all here for. And that is going to drive a lot of partnerships. I  am totally convinced of this.

Let’s get those floodgates opened!
