Message: TSMC/ $ 12 Billion Plant in Arizona

The Daily Wire is a propaganda site that publishes low-quality content that does not come close to giving the reader the full picture of any issue. Read critically and find better sources. This plant does not go online until 2024 and it will be manufacturing at 5nm, which will likely be surpassed by 3nm by that point. It is only producing 20K wafers per month while TSMC's more recent fabs produce 1 million wafers/month. The $12B pricetag for the factory is due largely to the $120 million cost for a single piece of equipment (of which dozens will be needed). The attempt to hurt Huawei or China is another example of a failed U.S. administration's desperate attempt to seem effective. Huawei has other supply chain options and by 2024 China will be even further ahead in chip development and deployment. Here are two better sources that provide a broad and deep look at what the TSMC deal means:

As for Poet Tech, the greatest relevance is likely more eyes on the semiconductor industry and more attention given to breakthrough technologies that can advance commercial and military uses. That's obviously a good thing for the company, if it executes its plan.
