Aiming to become the global leader in chip-scale photonic solutions by deploying Optical Interposer technology to enable the seamless integration of electronics and photonics for a broad range of vertical market applications

To add one more thought. Suresh was the new technology guy GF. He has explored optical integration approaches even before he was with GF. GF has a massive R&D budget.

The point I am trying to make is that efforts to integrate III-V materials into silicon has had a long history but clearly Suresh saw this approach as limited. And he is right it is limited but there has been so much invested in silicon that they continue to throw a lot of money at it. Look at what POET has done on a shoestring. And in the big picture it is just a start. There are next generation lasers on the horizon that POET will integrate into the optical interposer platform at a very small fraction of the cost and a very small fraction of the time that it would take Intel to develop heterogeneously on silicon.

Those next generation lasers are already being looked at by POET.

One look at POET's portfolio tells you all you need to  know with how quickly they are moving and how pervasive this platform is expected to  be.

Enjoy the day!
