Just to extend the thinking here. This is part of the fundamental strength of POET.  The monolithic approach does not provide the ability to apply the best processing needs to each device. It becomes a compromise to co-optimize each element separately according to their material set needs.  The POET approach allows each device to be optimized individually without  compromise to gain a maximum benefit from each material set. So each device is optimized separately by the supply chain without the constraints that occur in monolithic systems. For example Suresh has talked about silicon photonics being constrained by micro-ring limitations requiring highly accurate dimensional control as well as tightly bound temperature boundaries. 

The timing of Suresh joining POET really could not have been better. He recognized that 3d packaging had progressed to a point where it could be applied to optical integration. And the rest is a history which continues to unfold.

POET has a path forward that will continue to grow and take advantage of what industry has perfected in the evolution of continuous improvement.
