PASSPORT METALS INC. IDENTIFIES COPPER MANTO AT GILDA COPPER-GOLD PROPERTY
Passport Metals Inc. has identified a copper-bearing manto on its Gilda joint venture property located 25 kilometres northeast of the regional mining centre of Copiapo in Region III, Chile. Phase I exploration consisted of excavator trenching, road building, mapping and sampling. Preliminary bedrock chip and grab sampling in a newly discovered manto returned copper grades from 0.475 per cent to 3.454 per cent from a total of five samples.
The manto lies on a flat to gentle slope and bedrock exposure is limited. There are two small exposures at surface and an adit. Two bedrock chip samples were taken from the adit. They ran 2.271 per cent copper over 0.75 metre and 3.159 per cent Cu over 0.75 metre. The manto is relatively flat lying and is about one metre wide in the adit.
Grab samples were also collected from the adit and from oxide material next to two surface exposures that are approximately 45 metres southwest and 60 metres northeast of the adit. The grab sample from the adit ran 3.454 per cent Cu. Two grab samples from the oxide material ran 1.815 per cent Cu and 0.475 per cent Cu respectively.
