this from 2005 ---------PM, coatings and nano in Canadian joint venture move QUEBEC-BASED Raymor industries has signed a joint-venture agreement with venture capital- financed PyroGenesis of Montreal, creating a subsidiary producing spherical metallic powders and coatings using technologies developed by PyroGenesis for biomedical applications and injection moulding. The new company will also PyroGenesis-developed technologies to produce metallic coatings for use in the military, aeronautical, aerospace and mining industries, and to market PyroGenesis industrial nanotechnology. "The joint-venture will ensure the expansion of the advanced materials technology divisions," said P Peter Pascali, president of PyroGenesis. "The visibility of a public company, access to capital markets and teamwork with people who have business development experience, should help the transition for PyroGenesis from research and development to large scale marketing," he added. "This agreement allows Raymor to add nanotechnologies to its expertise in advanced materials and immediate revenues. With the addition of Mr Pascali's experience in financing and acquisitions from his days on Wall Street, Raymor will add to its network and future." declared Stephane Robert, president of Raymor. Under the agreement, the new subsidiary inherits contracts now in production for leading clients

from high-technology sectors of the military, aircraft and aerospace production. The objectives of Raymor's new industrial subsidiary are to manage the marketing of current production of the metallic powder and metallic coating divisions of PyroGenesis, increase the growth in sales and market the nanotechnologies that have been developed by PyroGenesis. In addition, this new team will ensure the development of other technologies attached to these divisions for short-term, marketable applications. The Raymor subsidiary and PyroGenesis will share an 85,000 square-foot industrial building located in the heart of Montreal. This facility will ensure the possibility of expanding the production of metallic powders and coatings using the industrial equipment already in place. The new affiliate will share laboratory, analytical and quality control services as well as staff already on site. The organisation already benefits from an ISO 9001-2000 certified quality system. The metal powder division uses vacuum atomisation with plasma to make very high-quality spherical powders. The spherical quality is a major asset in coatings related to bio-medical applications and for injection moulding. The division is projecting production of significant quantities of titanium powder. Other types of metallic powders with widely vary-

ing industrial applications will be the subject of marketing efforts. The metallic coatings division uses atmospheric plasma spray (APS), high velocity oxyfuel (HVOF) and vacuum plasma spray (VPS) for a variety of applications including turbine motors, automobile motors, aircraft parts and mining equipment. The synergy between Raymor and PyroGenesis is strong. Since 1999, Raymor's technical staff led by Dr. Ralph
