I am speechless…embarrassed (that I would be spoken about like that), proud (that anyone would take the time that it took to write that poem), and happy (that I could have had such a positive effect, particularly in these times of trouble). Thanks. It was very nice.

I believe this song by Elie Goulding (lyrics included) speaks to many of the same themes in the poem you posted. Although not a perfect match to what is going on, I cannot avoid thinking that the “They” in her song speaks so strongly to the shorts in your poem. They think that being burnt twice in a row recently was…an accident? It seems “They (still) don’t know what they heard”.
