Electric Arc Furnace,EAF, is used  in the steel making process,not the iron ore to iron process,EAF normaly use direct reduced iron ,DRI, and scrap metal to produce steel.bypassing the need for pellets which are primarily used in the Blast Burnace,BF,which turns iron ore into iron,and the Basic Oxygen Furnace,BOF which turns the iron into steel.
