Oops. In my haste of browsing the abstracts, I messed up the directionality of BRD4 depletion or pan-BET inhibiton on adiponectin. Both BRD4 depletion and pan-BET inhibition by JQ1 decrease adiponectin expression and the expression of insulin sensitivity genes in the 3T3L1 cells. As for apabetalone implications......we don't know whether bromodomain-2 selective inhibition would elicit the same effects as pan-BET inhibition. Also, from what I remember hearing from the scientific presentations on apabetalone, it is primarily distributed and metabolized by the liver and kidneys (sorry, don't have a reference off hand for this), so the exposure of the adipose tissue to apabetalone may be minimal.
