I previously wrote "If they don't have the statistical significance to claim that they successfully achieved their primary outcome of BETonMACE (time to first occurence of 3-point MACE), then BETonMACE will have failed"

Just to clarify, one must keep in mind that beyond just the whole population of BETonMACE being analyzed for the primary outcome are pre-specified subgroup analyses for the primary outcome in BETonMACE that include:

– Rosuvastatin vs. Atorvastatin

– < 30 days vs. > 30 days post-acute coronary syndrome

– LDL/HDL/TG’s above and below median

– HbA1c above and below median

– eGFR >60 mL/min and < 60 mL/min

So if I interpret this correctly they will have many shots on goal to claim success by not only being able to analyze the entire population but these pre-specified sub-groups as well. This is much different than after the fact post-hoc analyses.
