As an addendum to my comment on « corrects » and « down regulates », it’s perhaps worth mentioning that sometimes authors are forced to use words they consider non-ideal merely to comply with a restriction on the number of characters permitted in a title by the congress organizers. Corrects has fewer characters, of course! Was that the reason??
