Salazar Obtains Dr. James Franklin for Consulting at Curipamba, Ecuador
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 14, 2009) - Salazar Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:SRL)(FRANKFURT:CCG) has recently contracted Dr. James Franklin PhD, FRSC, P.Geo., to visit its Curipamba project in Central West Ecuador. Dr. Franklin has over 40 years experience as a distinguished geologist evaluating mineral deposits and regional metallogeny. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Since January 1998, he has been an Adjunct Professor at Queen's University and, since 2001, at Laurentian University. He is a past President of the Geological Association of Canada and of the Society of Economic Geologists. His consulting work is focused on new discoveries of volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits, orogenic and porphyry-style gold in Precambrian terrains, magmatic nickel-copper sulfides and various types of uranium deposits.

Dr. Franklin has completed a thorough review at Las Naves viewing all drill data, geophysical data and accessible surface outcrops in the Las Naves area where an inferred resource at El Domo was recently published. Dr. Franklin's expertise and interpretation will help the Company have a better understanding of Curipamba's volcanic hosted massive sulphide environment and provide guidelines for seeking further discoveries.

Initial drilling at the El Domo target has indicated and inferred resource of approximately 4 million tonnes at grades of 3.48 grams per tonne gold, 76.33 grams per tonne silver, 2.51% copper, 4.55% zinc and 0.47% lead (As previously announced February 25, 2009). A definition drilling program is shortly underway to advance and expand the El Domo deposit's resource classification. The geological environment and evidence from the recent drill program suggest that it is a Kuroko-type volcanogenic massive sulphide body that is notably rich in gold and silver. During the visit he mentioned that generally, each district similar to Curipamba contains from 5 to 8 mineralized bodies similar to El Domo; some may be the size of El Domo, others can be smaller or larger, and typically the deposits are spaced from 2 to 4 kms apart.

At the Sesmo Anomaly (1 km north from El Domo), where high grades of gold and silver have been encountered through channel sampling (15m averaging 39.1 g/t Au and 741 g/t Ag), Dr. Franklin states "this could be the cap to a mineralized body similar to El Domo. It is very common to have high grades of gold and silver with barite in the exhalite cap of a massive sulfide body."

Dr. Franklin stated, "First, many thanks for organizing the excellent visit to Cupribama. This was a great experience to learn first-hand about this exciting new discovery. From my knowledge of the VMS districts in the western Andean origin, Cupribama seems to have the richest combined metal grades of all, and with a minimum of 4mt already defined at El Domo, clearly it will only be a matter of more drilling before you have an economically recoverable resource."

Fredy Salazar, President and CEO, stated, "We are very pleased and honoured to have an expert like Dr. James Franklin visit our project. His knowledge of volcanic hosted massive sulphides is second to none in the world and we anticipate that the insight gained from his advice will lead to further discoveries of base metal and precious metal rich sulphide bodies in the Curipamba project area. Dr. Franklin is confident that we have discovered a significant new massive sulphide district in Western Ecuador."

Shortly the Company will resume exploration on ten previously identified geophysical and geochemical targets and a proposed regional exploration program which will allow us to evaluate the massive sulphide potential along a thirty-one kilometre trend. Dr. Franklin's consultation and advice has been invaluable in the evaluation of the Curipamba massive sulphide camp. The report is being used to assist in identifying additional target areas for the company's upcoming exploration and drill programs. His complete report is expected shortly.
