Sernova's has developed the Cell Pouch(tm) as a scalable, biocompatible, implantable device which forms vascularized tissue chambers to create a natural environment for therapeutic cells.

These therapeutic cells may be human donor cells whose supply is very limited or come from an unlimited source of cells such as stem cells or porcine cells. We are very encouraged by the recent advances in insulin producing stem cell technologies.

Sernova's unique approach is to protect these cells on a micro level within the Cell Pouch(tm) to enable the required blood vessels to grow into or come very close to the cells. We have over 5 years experience developing, contract manufacturing and testing the Cell Pouch (tm) in animal models and now in humans.
