10 Steps to greater energy efficiency

What Smartcool Can Do For You

To start saving energy on your air conditioning and refrigeration systems, all you have to do is Contact Us, and we will take care of the rest. Smartcool and its distributors follow 10 steps to achieving greater energy efficiency for your facility:


1. Initial Contact
Choose a distributor in your area, or contact Smartcool Systems directly to begin. Contact Us

2. Energy Survey
We will ask you to complete a very general Energy Survey to get a better understanding of your facility and cooling systems. Once this information has been received, we will schedule an Energy Audit. Click here to fill out a Energy Survey

3. Energy Audit
A Smartcool representative will meet with your designated representative, preferably an employee with in depth knowledge of your operations and equipment. We will need to collect detailed information on your compressors in particular, including the brand, model, quantity, type, unloaders, control system and access information. There is no fee for an Energy Audit, which generally takes about 2 hours to complete.

If necessary, the field representative will also make a checklist of possible repairs or maintenance problems that should be remedied before Smartcool equipment can be installed.

4. Energy Savings Proposal
The information from the Energy Audit is sent to Smartcool's Sales Department and used to prepare an Energy Savings Proposal.

5. Proposal Presentation
We will provide you with an Energy Savings Proposal that summarizes the information we have gathered from you and defines the scope of a potential Smartcool installation at your facility. The Proposal includes:

  • Project price
  • Estimated energy savings from a Smartcool installation
  • Estimated financial savings and return on investment (typically under 3 years)
  • Estimated environmental benefits from reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Potential utility rebate (if available in your area)
  • Smartcool guarantee and warranty information
  • Overview of potential monitoring and verification procedures

6. Proposal Acceptance
In order to move forwards from this stage, you must sign the Energy Savings Proposal and be prepared to pay 50% of the purchase price (if necessary a purchase order can be issued). Following the receipt of this payment, we will schedule the installation and provide you with a project timeline.

7. Smartcool Installation
A Smartcool installation in your facility will have a well designed plan including a schematic diagram and will be meticulously implemented. All work will be performed by Smartcool approved contractors or employees who are thoroughly trained and will be turnkey. This installation will be done according to all applicable codes, regulations, and facility-specific safety and operational requirements. All Smartcool contractors have appropriate worker's compensation and general liability insurance coverage. Upon completion of the installation, you will be invoiced for the balance (50%) of the purchase price still owing.

8. Optional Measurement & Verification
Smartcool will perform a full M&V for all ESM™ installations, included in the original purchase price for the project. M&V for ECO3™ installations is available upon request for an additional fee. At the completion of an M&V period, Smartcool will provide you with an Energy Savings Evaluation, outlining the performance of Smartcool equipment.

9. Rebate Application
Smartcool products have been designed to qualify for all utility and government rebate programs. The Energy Savings Evaluation will form the basis of an application to the relevant utility or government office to access any rebate program available for the installation of the equipment. If you wish, Smartcool can apply for the rebate on your behalf in exchange for a fee that is equal to a percentage of the funds received.

10. Ongoing Customer Support
Once a Smartcool installation has been completed an Operators Handbook is left at the site in order to assist with trouble shooting if necessary. Additionally, Customer Service & Support is available to you via telephone or e-mail.
