If they let the banks go bust, the Russian oligarchs lose all their hard-earned cash or a serious 90% haircut - along with everyone else. Cyprus may be out of the EU, which means no euros and a transfer over to another currency, possibly the Turkish currency, and there may be a call on Italy and Spain's debt to follow which they clearly cannot pay and so the dominos begin.
