Message: The war on fake graphene

I understand that the long awaited international standard for graphene being prepared by ISO (International Organization for Standards) will appear this month (March 2019). ISO did publish a previous standard (September 2017) relating to appropriate vocabulary for the various graphene grades and derivatives. Preparation of this (more important) standard has been delayed while those with a vested interest in some less-than-best products haggled for a softening of the definitions.  It'll be interesting to see if the definitions are indeed softer than the previous vocabulary!  Some producers are already queing up to prove their compliance, confident that their product does meet the highest grades. Others I imagine will consider it sensible to relabel their products without even submitting them for assessment. I expect quite a shakeout across the industry this year, with some quite big players demoted.
