Developed in Ontario, a virucidal ink is approved by Health Canada

The ink developed by ZEN Graphene Solutions, 99% effective in killing the virus causing COVID-19 and applicable on masks, has received approval from Health Canada.

Last March, motivated by the pandemic, the Ontario company ZEN Graphene Solutions, headed by Francis Jacques Dubé, announced that it had developed a virucidal ink after five months of development.

The research and development of the virucidal ink formula was carried out entirely by the team of researchers at ZEN in Guelph, Ontario.

Yesterday, the company received confirmation that their product is safe.

The company also filed on September 21, 2020, a patent for its ink. We did this incredibly quickly. We have engineers, we have PhDs, we really have a great team.

Notable facts:

  • Ink is 99% effective against COVID-19
  • Ink remained 99% effective for a minimum of 35 days after application to N95 masks

A arduous approval process

In addition to the antiviral effectiveness of the ink, which has been analyzed and confirmed by Health Canada, the risks of having graphene in a mask have also been assessed, explains Mr. Dubé.

Among the battery of tests carried out, it was necessary to determine whether the graphene contained in the ink could be released and be aspirated by the wearer of the mask, which would represent a danger for his respiratory tract.

[Our staff] partnered with a university to be able to [do the advanced tests], and that's why it took six months to get the required documentation.

Technology accessible to the public

The process for putting ink on masks is complex, but Francis Dubé hopes that masks coated with virucidal ink will soon be available on drugstore shelves.

We made our first commercial delivery this morning [...]. From January, we should have the capacity to make 10 billion masks next year.

A quote from:Francis Dubé, Executive Chairman of ZEN Graphene SolutionsThe outlook for the company rejoices Mr. Dubé who invites investors to follow the stock of ZEN Graphene Solutions, stressing in conclusion to keep [them] in the eye, because there are many beautiful things that are happening. come this fall .
