Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. is pleased to share its participation and activities at the 2019 Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention, taking place March 3 – 6, 2019 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The following is a list of all exhibits, events and speaking engagements featuring Avalon management.

INVESTOR’S EXCHANGE

Booth #2303

During the duration of the convention floor hours, Avalon staff will be available at the company’s booth to meet with shareholders and other conference delegates. Avalon President & CEO, Don Bubar, will be at the company booth the afternoon of Sunday, March 2nd.

SHORT COURSES, FORUMS and TECHNICAL SESSION PRESENTATIONS

Friday, March 1

Health and Safety in Mineral Exploration
Dr. Bill Mercer, Vice President, Exploration, and Mark Wiseman, Vice President, Sustainability will once again be chairing and presenting this field-oriented health and safety course, which has run successfully for seven years. Registration was required to attend this sold-out workshop.

Sunday, March 3

Mining and climate change: Exploring drivers, trade-offs and specific tools for understanding climate change risks and opportunities
Mr. Wiseman will speak on the 11:00 am-12:00 pm panel of the Sustainability Program session, focusing on a new tool developed to educate the exploration industry in measuring and managing GHG emissions.

What is the next level for business and government in promoting responsible enterprise?
Mr. Wiseman will be chairing this Sustainability Program panel which explores the role of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE), 1:30 pm-2:50 pm.

Guidance on developing sound security management plans to implement international security standards and the Voluntary Principles
This Sustainability Program will guide security professionals and those assigned security oversights for mining companies on developing sound security management plans that provide a basis upon which to implement international security standards. Mr. Wiseman will be chairing from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm.

Monday, March 4

Technology Metals
Mr. Bubar is co-chair of this technical session being held at 2:00 pm-4:30 pm, featuring speakers on battery materials including lithium, cobalt and nickel, along with a talk on the emerging technology metal scandium.

Aboriginal Forum
Mr. Bubar will be participating in a panel discussion regarding First Nations business development and innovative partnerships from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm.

Tuesday, March 5

Unlocking our Potential - Invest NWT
Avalon’s recent news release “Avalon Attracts Development Partner to Nechalacho Rare Earth Elements Project Yellowknife, NWT” has generated considerable media attention in NWT and Canadian news outlets, including coverage from the CBC: “$5M boost for rare earth elements project at Thor Lake, NWT.” Avalon is pleased to be represented on an Industry Panel providing perspective on the session theme: “Unlocking our Potential - Invest NWT” at 3:45 pm. This event is organized by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (Government of the Northwest Territories).

Awards Gala
Mr. Bubar will be receiving the Distinguished Service Award during the Awards Gala Reception Tuesday evening for his work in increasing the dialogue between Indigenous leadership and the mining industry. The inaugural Chair of the PDAC Aboriginal Affairs Committee that was formed in 2004, Mr. Bubar is credited with raising awareness about the importance of engagement between companies and Indigenous communities, and encouraging participation by Indigenous peoples in the mineral industry. During his tenure, PDAC saw tremendous growth in participation by self-identified Indigenous people at the annual PDAC Convention. Mr. Bubar was instrumental in developing a relationship with the Assembly of First Nations, which ultimately led to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2008. The Awards Gala is a ticketed event.

Wednesday, March 6

New Discoveries and Developments
Dr. Mercer will be co-chairing this annual technical session at 9:00 am-12:00 pm, which features presentations on two lithium development projects: Nemaska’s Whabouchi Project in Quebec and Rio Tinto’s Jadar project in Serbia.
