Geo Minerals Receives Drilling Assays and Expands Ground Position at Copper Springs Porphyry Copper Project, Arizona

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jun 07, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --

GEO MINERALS LTD. (TSX VENTURE: GM)(FRANKFURT: 8G3) ("Geo" or the "Company") is pleased to announce copper assay results for its Copper Springs porphyry copper project in south-central Arizona. In the first phase of drilling by the Company, native copper mineralization was intercepted over 189 meters (see news release, Feb. 4, 2010), and new assays for intervals from this intercept have from 64-1,570 parts per million (ppm) copper. The Company has also expanded its land position at Copper Springs by acquisition of an additional 188.1 hectares (464.9 acres) of claims adjoining the property, bringing to a total 1,976.2 hectares (4,883.4 acres) for the property.

The Copper Springs property is located 90 miles east of Phoenix in the prolific Globe-Miami district. Joint venture partner Bronco Creek Exploration Inc. has recognized that known copper deposits in the district are faulted and tilted portions of a cluster of larger porphyry centers. Of the porphyry centers identified in the district, the southern center (the Copper Springs porphyry) has the largest root footprint and the largest, most productive capping vein system (Copper Hill area and Old Dominion Mine) of any other in the district. The blocks that contain the central portion of the southernmost system are believed to lie beneath gravel cover within the Copper Springs property position. These blocks lie at intermediate to higher structural levels within the Copper Springs porphyry center and target mineral assemblages suspected to contain higher primary copper grades within reactive hosts' rocks and favourable conditions for supergene enrichment.

A total of 1,189 meters of air-rotary and mud-rotary drilling was completed in two vertical drill holes in February (see news release, Feb. 4, 2010). Drill hole CSN-06 encountered a conglomerate in which native copper was observed along fractures and mineral boundaries in granitic fragments within the conglomerate. Recovery of these native-copper-bearing granitic fragments continued to the end of the hole at 518 meters. A total of 12, three-meter intervals were assayed for copper at ALS Chemex using a four-acid digestion followed by ICP analysis. Copper assays from 64-1,570 ppm copper confirm the visual observations, and are likely minimum estimates for the conglomerate interval as only coarse drill chips were collected during the rotary drilling, with the finer material not recovered.

Geo president and CEO Mike England states "We are far enough from the known copper deposits at Globe-Miami that native copper in conglomerates is a good indication for further copper mineralization to be present at Copper Springs. As a consequence, we have picked up additional claims contiguous to the original property position and are planning the next phase of exploration."

Under its agreement with Bronco Creek Exploration Inc., Geo can earn a 100% interest on the property by incurring $2,750,000 in work expenditures, paying cumulative advanced royalty payments of $505,000, and issuing a total of 3,000,000 common shares plus 1,200,000 warrants over the five year term of the agreement. A 2.5% NSR with a buy back of 0.25% for $1,500,000 any time before a feasibility study and a further 0.25% for $3,500,000 prior to production is also in place.

Dr. Tom McCandless, Technical Advisor to Geo and a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, approved the technical contents of this release.

Geo Minerals is a junior exploration company actively seeking mineral and energy opportunities for the benefit of all our stakeholders, with four active porphyry copper projects in Arizona.
