VANCOUVER, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - On March 28, 2008, Petaquilla Copper Ltd. (TSX: PTC) ('Petaquilla') received notice from Teck Cominco Limited ('Teck') of Teck's 'Final Commitment' under the shareholders' agreement among Petaquilla, Teck and Inmet Mining Corporation ('Inmet') with respect to the Petaquilla Copper Project in Panama.

Teck's Final Commitment is Teck's written notice given to each of Petaquilla and Inmet unconditionally confirming that Teck will participate in all required work plans and budgets for development operations for the purpose of achieving commercial production in accordance with the shareholders' agreement.

Petaquilla notes the joint news release of Teck and Inmet of March 26, 2008, announcing their decision to proceed with the Petaquilla Copper project, and regards the announcement as a huge endorsement of both the project and Petaquilla's perseverance from two highly respected international mining companies.
