You are quite right, that ship has sailed. Goldcorp is not really serious with that kind of offer. I don't think the CEO there knows what he's doing. Why waste everybody's time for an offer that is $0.01 (that's 1 cent) above the YRI offer. There are just many things that are stacked against G's offer. Number 1 item is the penalty ($70M?) Osisko would need to pay if it break the deal with YRI and quite a few shareholders, including the pension funds, seem to like the 50% arrangement better. They want to participate in the other 50% of Malartic, especially after the Quebec election result and POG seems to head up (above $1300/oz again today).

I don't want to see G (the cheapskate) coming knocking on our PRB door, after this loss. Unless, it's willing to cough up a lot more money that OSK simply cannot refuse. In that case it would leave us alone?
