Agrium says it could have record fourth quarter

Wed Nov 12, 1:12 PM

TORONTO (Reuters) - Agrium Inc could have another round of record results in the fourth quarter as fertilizer and seed fundamentals remain strong, the company's CFO told Reuters on Wednesday.

"We have had some tail-offs in pricing for some of our products, but we just announced a record third quarter and we're going to have a very good fourth quarter. Our guidance would indicate it could be another record quarter," CFO Bruce Waterman said on the sidelines of a conference in Toronto.

Waterman added that Agrium, the largest U.S. retailer of fertilizer, chemicals and seed, was on the lookout for potential acquisitions and was well-placed to weather the global credit crunch.
