I would think that they would drill that deep to get to the very bottom of the chargeabilty signature and fully inventory what is really down there. We arent' racing for a FS anymore, we are working on the initial design for the whole District.

The depth of the juicy chargeability must be twigging the Engineer's minds when it comes to imagining the final pit outcome. The deeper they mine, the wider the rim must be. The wider the rim, the more that rim climbs up and over the top of Mt LaCasse to the north as well as to the east. If we take the top of the mountain off, the pit slopes could be come more manageable. As we take the top of the mountain off, we start intersecting with Mike Zone and Discovery. A few drills to depth could provide valuable info on how the whole mountain will be developed. jmho.
