I posetd on a Panasonic mesage board about a year ago that TESLA would be moving away from the radial battery cell to the prismatic battery cell. ( I was thinking Electrovaya) The replacement battery pack for their original roadster now has prismatic cells. (LG I think) Volkswagon is now moving that direction of a prismatic cell. I think what we are seeing in the beginning of a standardization of the prismatic battery cell for the auto industry. There is still some talk of a solid state cell, but I think that is still a future.......thing.
