A major chemical manufacturer has specified Kelso stainless steel pressure relief valves for 29 new
rail tank cars to be built by Trinity Industries later this year. The chemical manufacturer has chosen
the Kelso safety valve for tank cars scheduled for service carrying liquid calcium chloride which is a
corrosive material. This commodity, which is quite corrosive, needs not only a stainless steel valve
but one that is totally external to the tank car which thereby eliminates possible deterioration of the
valve components due to exposure to the chemical during transit.
The chemical manufacturer is pleased to have an improved technology available for its tank cars
that overcomes problems with the pressure relief valve technology used in the past. By specifying
Kelso safety valves on new cars, the chemical manufacturer is casting a vote of confidence in the
Kelso’s improved technology.
Kelso continues to make strides in the marketplace by expanding its customer base and increasing
sales to its existing customers as well.
Kelso has already added significant, new, Fortune 500 customers to its stable of satisfied customers,
increased the range and type of products it offers for sale to the rail sector, refashioned Kelso into a
“customer-driven, product solutions” company and through concerted expert efforts, have
developed a new reputation for Kelso, that of an innovator in the rail sector.
