Thank you very much, NowWhat, for this information. Yes, I want to do some trading with this account, otherwise I see little real gain. I can imagine the banks preferring deposit type accounts so that they can give you 3% while the real inflation rate is 8% or more.

I have not yet contacted my bank and broker (ScotiaDirect) about this but intend to shortly. What has your experience been?
