Hogan Jr: "In my opinion there is a clear strategic reason as to why Michal was appointed to the BOD, could this breakthrough could be it for the bio/sensing markets?"

Yes, there was a clear strategic reason in bringing Dr. Lipson on-board.  Having someone who is working at the forefront of the science and technology, with a team of researchers and resources under her direction, could very well pay dividends for the company in the long run.

Regarding the article, indeed this is something that has the potential to compliment POET’s OI platform, a chip-scale tuneable laser which could be used as part of a spectrometer for sensing applications such as wearables, medical devices, lab instruments, etc. among other things.  One would also need to develop the corresponding chip scale diode array for the detection end of things, probably not a difficult undertaking considering what they have accomplished to date.

Of course, we are talking technology development vs product development, so perhaps a few years off.  Seems like a great candidate for SHINE centre R&D leading to product commercialization.
