Along the same lines, several stories suggest that China may be positioning itself to lower the value of its currency, following Fed discussions with them to increase it. If they lower the value of their currency, the US will be forced to do the same. The obvious consequence of devaluations is increases in commodity prices.
Years ago, I read Kelley Mitchell's book Gold Wars: The Battle for the Global Economy (2013). That conceivable war may have just begun in earnest as a consequence of deglobalization and monetary instabilities.
