Message: The beat goes on

The J school grads are presently orgasmic about the potential for them to individually and collectively write tons more articles around the theme of the impending death of BEVs.

Not everything they write is fantasy.  Like any new technology there are always holes to poke in the way the new technology may sometimes mistakenly be presented by its advocates as seamless and perfection.  That fault is true for the way EVs have been presented.  There are, in fact, lots of problems but each one of these problems is being addressed one by one to include, but not be limited to, the range issues/safety issues and cost issues associated with lithium batteries.  The good thing is that technology, in the realm of Lithium Batteries, just as in the realm of most other new technologies, continues to mend these holes in the fabric of the initial promise presented for this technology.  Best example now is the advances in the field of SSB, Solid State Batteries, but advances are not limited to this one particular area that needs mending.

Below is an article from another J school grad who sees the evil that is associated with the movement toward a more "Green" life as being driven by Green Taxes in one form or another.  I happen to agree with him that there are a great many evils associated with the moment to add new taxes in the name of transmogrifying to a totally "Net Zero" all Green, all the time, economy by providing negative incentives to anything that does not wear the Green Star of Net Zero proudly on its shirt.  BIG Mistake.  As far as EVs go it is a 2 sided sword since without government subsidies in the beginning it would have been very difficult to get to even the present rate of adoption of non ICE vehicles in this country or in any other, but I also believe we should either be past that subsidy episode or nearly past it.  The technological advances being made in the interim should make headway toward the goal of having EVs stand on their own merit and ultimately be cheaper to both own and to operate, as well as repair when needed, vs their ICE counterparts.  The true Golden Days of EVs will depend on getting to the point where they are superior in almost every way possible vs ICE vehicles.  We also need to divorce ourselves from any false belief that ICE vehicles will be totally replaced by EVs.  That is hogwash.  The transition from mostly ICE to mostly EVs should take place in natural evolution as technology allows us to sanely and logically make that transition, not because of Green Tax and government subsidies.

There is a lot of truth in the critical article linked below:

I don't believe that there will be a future where everyone has converted to Green Energy automobiles, buses and trucks.  We don't have to do that and it is ludicrous to hold onto such a false pipedream.  For decades and decades to come there is room for both ICE vehicles and BEVs and there is an allowance for the bridging technology of Hybrids.  Going from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds is possible in a $100,000 plus EV suped up Hot Rod, but for the transition from a completely ICE dominated transportation system to one whereby BEVs are the majority of players is not something that would be healthy to achieve in less the 3 seconds, 3 years or probably even 30 years.

In the mean time lots of transgressions will be proposed and, in some locations, imposed by the Greenies on the rest of us and possibly the backfire of these excesses may generate some excesses on the part of ICE enthusiasts themselves.  In times of conflict those with the loudest voices often have the least amount of sound judgement, this current situation is no differrent.  Eventually we will sort it all out, but in the mean time there will be mistakes and casualties on both sides of the issue.

Best wishes to all.  Keep your windshields clean and headlights on as we go "Onward throgh the FOG!"
