Check out Twilight in the Desert - Simmons is not a wing-nut. The only deniers of peak oil are those who have a vested interest in perpetuating the dreqam of unlimited oil - at least for the time being. This includes major oil companies (can they really say: no new oil found; in 10 - 20 years your shares will be worthless?), OPEC (can they really say: in 10 - 20 years we will be economically irrelevant and our populations will starve?), consuming nations governments (we are deep in doggie dodo), or any of the think tanks IEA,EIA, if they are funded by any members of the previous list of characters.

No "elephant" fields have been found in 20 - 30 years, and of the 5 that are in production, most are also in decline (Baghram, Alaska North Slope, North Sea, Cantarel). No-one really knows what is going on in Saudi Arabia (Gawahr) since they expelled all foreigners over 25 years ago, but I understand that they are injecting 13,000,000 bbl water a day to force out 9,000,000 bbl oil..................
