"Speaking in general terms, stocks can be contributed to a registered plan (RSP, TFSA, etc) when instructed over the phone with an Investment Representative (1.800.465.5463, open 24/7). The price used for the contribution can be anywhere between the high and low of the trading session, chosen at your discretion. By using the lowest share price, you contribute the same amount of stock using the lowest dollar amount.

You can speak with us directly after market hours (to see the full day's high and low prices) and the deadline is midnight that same night. Call volumes also tend to be lower outside of market hours.

With regards to your overall contribution limit, the government will calculate how much TFSA contribution room you have available and provide this information on your T1 Notice of Assessment.
