I thought Id share some historic info on the Conley property that Cou has in its portfolio and has and will be working on. Som big gold ans silver numbers have come out of that one. Very tricky geology, hopefully Linda can make some sense out of it.

DESCRIPTION OF DEPOSIT
Siliceous limestone, graphitic slate, and chert of the Precambrian Rice Lake Group form the northern part of the property. The southern portion consists of gabbro. A mineralized chert band is found about 10 feet north of this contact.
Mineralization was found in a shear zone, trending northeast and dipping north, through the limestone and slate. Iron-stained quartz and chert contain disseminated gold, silver, pyrite, and chalcopyrite, plus smaller amounts of magnitite, sphalerite, galena, and native copper. Silver was usually found to be more abundant than gold.
The silver is believed to be over supergene origin (Ore dressing and metallurgical report in Mining Engineering File). Native copper probably formed in the reducing environment that formed the metasediments (Stephenson, 1971). Weathering produced copper and iron oxidation minerals.

HISTORY OF EXPLORATION AND DEVELOPMENT
The property covers land and water on southern and eastern parts of Conley Bay, an extension of Wallace Lake. It is 14 miles east of Bissett, about 1 mile northeast of Provincial Road No. 304.
Year Claim Name Claim Number Staker
1932 Argonaut M.C., No. 2 W805, 07 Mrs. Bertha Conley
- optioned to William J. Conley (Sr.) in 1932.
- optioned in 1932 by the W.A.D. Syndicate, Limited, which dug 3 pits and did some stripping on both claims.
- assigned to Theodore A. Sparks, President of Wallace Lake Gold Mines Ltd. in 1934.
Wallace Lake Gold Mines did surface work which found up to 13% Cu, 186 ozs. Ag/ton, and $250 worth of gold in separate workings. By March 1935, 9 holes had been drilled. Three of these cut ore, including one 28-inch section that assayed 10 ozs. Ag/ton (Wallace Gold Mines, Conley Mines, Corporation Files, Manitoba Mines Branch).
- option abandoned 1934.
- assigned to Conely Mines Limited in 1936.
Quebec Gold Mining Corporation optioned the property in 1936. Two shafts, each less than 20 feet deep, were dug about this time, as well as some trenches and pits. By March 1937, 15 diamond drill holes totaled over 5,000 feet. Gold values ranged from 0.18 to 4.02 oz./ton. Silver assays ran from 0.3 to 6.3 oz./ton. Samples from the two shafts averaged 1.18 oz. Gold and 31.55 oz. Silver over an average width of 2.05 feet. One of these samples contained 115 oz. Silver. Six 10 lb. surface samples averaged 0.54 oz. Gold, 4.50 oz. Silver (Conley Mines, op. Sit.). The option was dropped in 1937. In 1939, 21 year leases, M-1078, 80, were taken out. A two-pound sample was analysed by the Ore Dressing and Metallurgical Labs., Ottawa, and was found to contain 16.21 oz. Ag/ton and 0.39 oz. Au/ton (Conely Mines, Mining Engineering File). Conley Mines Limited merged with two other mining companies, in 1944, to form Gencona Mines Limited. In 1945 the property was optioned to Hudson Bay Exploration and Development Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co., Limited. Hudson Bay did some diamond drilling, but there are no known logs. The option was abandoned in 1946. Noranda Mines, Limited sampled the property at an unknown date. Gold and unusually high silver values were reported, and 33.1% Zn was assayed in one sample (Conley Mines, Ibid.). The claims were cancelled in 1960.

Year Claim Name Claim Number Staker
1960 Argo M.C., No. 2W33292, 94 W.J. Conley, Sr.
- cancelled in 1992.
1962 Jason M.C., No. 2 W35157, 59 W.J. Conley, Sr.
- assigned to General Resources Development Limited in 1967.
In 1967 Gencona entered into an agreement with the provincial government under the Mineral Exploration Assistance Act. Gencona promised to conduct magnetometer and electromagnetic surveys, and to geologically map the area. The property was assigned to William J. Conley, Jr. in 1968 and since then pits have been dug and extended.
