Gold and Silver the metals have an options expiry Tue. the 25th.

In order to make most of the options expire worthless the options writers (the left hand) work with the bankers (their right hand) to drive the price of gold and silver to wherever they wish it; usually down as far as possible.

Since the price of gold and silver coming into an options expiry is very likely to get "whacked," it is somewhat pointless to release news into the face of it. It is very much like spitting into a strong wind.
